Muscle tissue is one of the four main types of tissue in the body, alongside epithelial, connective, and nervous tissue. It is made up of cells that can contract, allowing for movement. There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal, cardiac, and smooth. Skeletal muscle is attached to bones and helps with voluntary movements, cardiac muscle makes up the heart and is responsible for pumping blood, while smooth muscle is found in organs and helps with involuntary movements.
